The Diocese

The Episcopal Diocese of Delaware comprises the entire state and includes thirty-seven congregations from Claymont in extreme northern Delaware to Selbyville in the south. All major towns in Delaware have an Episcopal Church and Wilmington, the state's largest city, has eleven. Immanuel on the Green and the Church of the Nativity serve New Castle.

The Diocese of Delaware serves the congregations and their people in the following ways:

• Mission
• Education
• The ordering of ministry
• The calling of clergy
• Finances
• The maintenance of buildings and properties

Immanuel on the Green and the Diocese of Delaware welcome our new Bishop, Kevin Brown who was consecrated as the 11th Bishop of Delaware on December 9, 2017.

The Bishop visits every congregation at least once a year, baptizing and administering confirmation, celebrating the Eucharist (Holy Communion), and meeting with leaders and members. There are about 9,300 baptized members in Delaware.

Like the small state we serve in Christ's name, the Diocese of Delaware has often provided leadership to the national Episcopal Church out of proportion to its size. Click here to visit their website to learn more about the Diocese of Delaware.
