28th Presiding Bishop & Primate
The Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe was elected presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church in June 2024 and took office on Nov. 1 for a nine-year term. In this role, he serves as the church’s chief pastor and CEO. Known for his expertise in organizational learning and adaptive change, Rowe is committed to strengthening support for local ministry and mission.
He was ordained bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania in 2007 after serving as rector of St. John’s in Franklin, Pennsylvania, for seven years. From 2014 to 2018, he served as bishop provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, and from 2019 to 2024, he led a partnership between the Episcopal Dioceses of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York.
Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Grove City College, a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in organizational learning and leadership from Gannon University. He has served as a leader of many civic and churchwide organizations and governance bodies, and as parliamentarian for the House of Bishops.

For the first time in many years, Immanuel will hold a Vacation Bible School for the children of our parish and the New Castle community. Children ages 4 through 6th grade are welcome to participate. Each day, we will explore Jesus’ Parable of the Sower and learn how to care for God’s creation through age-appropriate activities. Registration forms may be completed here or by using the paper forms provided in the church.
We are seeking a number of volunteers to help run this fun event. Please consider the list below and find the right slot for your contribution.
On-Site Volunteers:
Teacher (lessons are provided)
Snack chairperson
First Aid provider
Games chairperson
Crafts chairperson
Group leader (shepherding children from one location to another)
Pre-Event Volunteers:
Provider of snacks (juice, cookies, pretzels, fruit)
Distributor of door hangers to New Castle homes
Facility preparation chairperson (set up and break down in the Academy)

Children are an important part of our parish life and we take Christian formation for our youngest members quite seriously. From infants and toddlers, through high school seniors, we offer nurturing environments, with loving and dedicated adult leadership and strong parental commitment. From church school to youth groups, children of all ages are encouraged to participate fully in our parish life.
Please call ahead and let the office know if you need nursery or Sunday School arrangements, and we will be happy to accommodate you! The office is open on Monday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm; and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 9:00 am–3:00 pm.
